- Activities - students watch "9/11" (or "Fireman's Video"), we stop and discuss at several key points

- students continue watching "9/11" video
- LG - students will identify the core ideals of American society, as reflected in our reaction and response to terrorism
- LO - to discuss the "why's" and details of the attack on the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon

- Activities - students watch "9/11" video, we stop and discuss at several key points

Monday, Sept. 11
- students finish last minutes of 9/11 video, then discussion, handouts, reactions
- LG - students will identify the core ideals of American society, and discuss the U.S. reaction and response
- LO - to discuss and analyze the handouts, numbers, and why many around the world don't care for the U.S. and its citizens
- Do Nows - start tomorrow
- Activities - students finish last bit of "9/11", then shown some handouts, read aloud a girl's experience, read some poems, etc.

- LO - students will understand and analyze important happenings in the world and in the United States, and how it may effect them

- Activities - students take 10 facts from two articles: "Should Police Wear Body Cameras" and "So You're 18, Now What?"

- students will take Unit One Pre-Test and fill out survey

- Do Nows - students retrieve definitions for new "Wall Words"
- Activities -students will take Unit One Pre-Test and fill out survey for free college information

- students fill out informational sheets, and discuss handouts on school "protocol"

- LO - students will compare/contrast schools and core ideals of Americans, and Bill Gates' suggestions for learning goals
- Do Nows - students attempt to draw a picture of one of the new "Wall Words" in action
- Activities - students receive handouts: "Being Good Enough is Not Good Enough", and Bill Gates' famous speech about "11 Things Students Did Not, and Will Not, Learn in High School", plus information for teacher on new contact list

Friday, Sept. 15
- students complete historical critical reading exercise on the Nacirema, then discuss
- LG - students will identify the core ideals of American society as reflected in its documents, and analyze the ways that American society moved toward and/or away from its core ideals
- LO - students will understand better how to critically read, for details and analysis - through their comprehension of the "Nacirema" group
- Do Nows - new list of wall words on Monday
- Activities - students read and write down facts on the group called the "Nacirema", and compare/discuss differences between our culture and theirs
